Mirrors for Princes was published alongside the presentation of Lektor, a multi-channel audio work by Slavs and Tatars. The work was presented at Kunsthalle Zurich; NYU Abu Dhabi; Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane; Blaffer Art Gallery, Houston; and Collective, Edinburgh.
‘Mirrors for princes’ was a form of political writing shared between the Christian and Islamic world in the Middle Ages. These guides addressed the delicate balance between seclusion and society, spirit and state, and the role of faith in public life.
This book brings together the writing of preeminent scholars and essayists using the genre as a starting point. Including writing by Anthony Downy, Neguin Yavari and Lloyd Ridgeon, the book is designed and illustrated by Slavs and Tatars with Stan de Natris.
