To coincide with Memorialmania – her Observers’ Walk made in collaboration with Astrid Johnston – Ruth Ewan made three woodblock print editions. Centred around the history of political radicalism on Calton Hill, the prints are informed by the research undertaken for the project.
The third in the series is Salisbury Crags. The text references ‘The Radical Road’, which is the track immediately below Salisbury Crags that can be viewed clearly from Calton Hill. It became known as The Radical Road as it was paved by unemployed weavers from Paisley in the aftermath of the Radical War of 1820.
